1980- Walter Cronkite announced his retirement from the CBS Evening News. Dan Rather was named as his replacement.

1988- Broadway composer Frederick Loewe, who wrote the scores for My Fair Lady and Camelot, died in Palm Springs, California, at age 86.

1989- Mike Tyson and Robin Givens were divorced…on Valentine’s Day no less!

1995- Rebounding from her failed marriage to Tom Arnold, Roseanne wed former bodyguard Ben Thomas in Lake Tahoe, NV. They divorced in 2002. Roseanne vowed to never wed again. And so far, she hasn’t!

1996- Prince married backup singer and dancer Mayte Garcia in a Valentine's Day ceremony in Minneapolis. They divorced in 1999.

1997- The Jagged Little Pill album by Alanis Morissette was certified Multi Platinum 15x by the RIAA.

1998- Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds was honored as "Entertainer of the Year" at the 29th NAACP Image Awards.

1998- Actress Sharon Stone married newspaper executive Phil Bronstein at a Valentine's Day celebration. They adopted a child together before divorcing in 2004.

2004- Charmed actress Holly Marie Combs was married to show key grip David Donoho. They have three children together, but filed for divorce in 2011.

2007- Felicity actress Keri Russell married contractor Shane Deary in Manhattan. They have two children together and remain hitched.

2011- The TV game show Jeopardy! began airing the first of three episodes pitting human players Brad Rutter and Ken Jennings against an IBM computer named "Watson."
