You already know spending too much time sitting on your sofa isn’t healthy- but it might be worse than you think.  A study found that more than a third of all couches sold in the U.S. may contain potentially toxic chemicals.  The majority tested were found to have been treated with a chemical flame retardant that could be toxic if inhaled as the furniture foam disintegrates over time.  More than 40% of couches tested contained chlorinated tris, and almost 20% contained pendaBDE, which has been banned around the world.  According to the study, many of these flame retardant chemicals are associated with hormone disruption, neurological and reproductive problems and cancer. Still, more research is needed to determine how dangerous the toxins in couches are to humans.  CLICK here for the whole story!
