Jon Stewart is taking the summer off. Stewart will hand over hosting duties on The Daily Show to John Oliver for 12 weeks in order to direct a movie. The film, called Rosewater, is based on the 2011 book And Then They Came For Me: A Family’s Story of Love, Captivity and Survival by Canadian-Iranian journalist Maziar Bahari and Aimee Molloy. Stewart wrote the screenplay, which tells Bahari’s story of being jailed in Tehran in 2009 for four months, accused of plotting to stage a revolution against the government. Before his arrest, Bahari was featured in a Daily Show sketch, which his captors used against him.
