PARENTS GROUP UP IN ARMS OVER F-BOMB AT SUPER BOWL

The Parents Television Council is furious at CBS for letting an F bomb make it on air during the telecast of Sunday’s Super Bowl.   Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco was hugging his teammate Marshal Yanda when a microphone nearby caught him exclaiming, “This is f***ing awesome!” “Despite empty assurance after empty assurance from the broadcast networks that they would never air indecent material, especially during the Super Bowl, it has happened again,” said PTC president Tim Winter. “No one should be surprised that a jubilant quarterback might use profane language while celebrating a career-defining win, but that is precisely the reason why CBS should have taken precautions.”   The PTC, which led the charge against CBS after the Janet Jackson Super Bowl wardrobe malfunction, is calling on the FCC to take action against the network.

TRUMP TO SUE BILL MAHER

Donald Trump just can’t take a joke. Trump then responded by sending Maher his birth certificate, and expected him to pay up, but Maher never did. “He promised me $5 million for charity if I provided certain information," Trump said on Fox & Friends Monday. "Well, I provided the information, he didn’t pay. So today I sue Bill Maher for $5 million for charity.” Added the Celebrity Apprentice blowhard, “I don’t think he was joking. . He said it with venom. That was venom. That wasn’t a joke. In fact he was nervous when he said it. It was a pathetic delivery, but he said, 'I will give' and I said I will accept, so let’s see what happens.”

TV TIDBITS

Sunday’s Super Bowl fell a tiny bit short in the ratings. According to Nielsen numbers, approximately 108.4 million people tuned in to watch the Baltimore Ravens defeat the San Francisco 49ers (or just to watch Beyonce), which is slightly less than the record 111.3 million viewers who tuned into last year’s New York Giants and the New England Patriots game, which aired on NBC. Meanwhile, the 35 minute blackout delay did not help CBS’s post-Bowl episode of Elementary. It pulled in 20.8 million viewers, which was almost half of the audience that tuned into last year’s post-Super Bowl premiere of NBC’s The Voice. It was the second lowest audience of any post-Super Bowl show since 2003’s Alias episode, which was watched by 17.4 million viewers.
