LINDSAY HIT-AND-RUN CASE DROPPED

Lindsay Lohan got some good news yesterday. Prosecutors in New York have decided to drop her alleged hit-and-run case. Lindsay was arrested in September after allegedly driving her Porsche into a bystander at The Dream Hotel. After reviewing surveillance footage of the incident, prosecutors determined there was not enough evidence to convict Lindsay, so they dropped the case.   Of course, Lindsay’s not totally off the hook- the alleged victim can still sue her in civil court.

MICHAEL TO SEEK CONSERVATORSHIP OF LINDS

Meanwhile, Michael Lohan isn’t giving up his effort to get Lindsay into rehab. Sources tell TMZ he plans to go to court to try to get a conservatorship for his daughter. Michael is expected to meet with lawyers this week, although he insists he does not want to be named her conservator, because that means he’ll be in charge of her finances, and people will think he did it just to get his hands on Lindsay’s money.  (As opposed to just doing it for publicity.) But Lindsay doesn’t think Michael will succeed in his bid. "No judge would buy it,"  Lindsay reportedly told a friend. "They would have a hard time believing the claims of someone who was investigated for insider trading, arrested for domestic violence multiple times, arrested for assault, has a drunk driving arrest, and has been in and out of jail and prison for years."

BEY & JAY CAN’T TRADEMARK BLUE IVY

Looks like Beyonce and Jay-Z won’t be able to make any money off their daughter’s name. In late January, the superstar couple filed an application to trademark the name Blue Ivy. Unfortunately for them, an event planning company in Boston had the name since 2009 and sued the couple for trying to get a trademark. Well, the event planning company won, which means Bey and Jay have no legal rights to the name.

New dad Brian Austin Green (wife Megan Fox gave birth to a son last month) just lost a boatload of money in court. The former 90210 star sued actress Vanessa Marcil, mother of his ten-year-old son,  claiming that back in 2000 he lent her $200,000 which she never repaid. When he tried to get the money back in 2011 she refused to hand it over, so he sued. But yesterday an L.A. County Superior Court judge ruled Green waited too long to pursue a legal claim on the money, and the statute of limitations had run out. DISNEY DENYING NEW PRINCESS IS LATINA

When Disney introduced their new Disney Junior movie Sofia the First: Once Upon a Princess, they proudly proclaimed it would be the first to feature a Latina princess. Problem was, the public didn’t think Sofia looked Latina enough. Well, now the studio is backpedaling, claiming Sofia isn’t actually Latina. "What's important to know is that Sofia is a fairy-tale girl who lives in a fairy-tale world," said Nancy Kanter, senior vice president of original programming and general manager of Disney Junior Worldwide, per NBC Latino. "All our characters come from fantasy lands that may reflect elements of various cultures and ethnicities but none are meant to specifically represent those real world cultures." Craig Gerber, a co-executive producer and writer on the feature, added that Sofia is actually "a mixed-heritage princess in a fairy-tale world. Her mother is originally from an enchanted kingdom inspired by Spain (Galdiz) and her birth father hailed from an enchanted kingdom inspired by Scandinavia."
