Renee interviews CT Native AJ Tesler about his new movie: HERO MODE

Synopsis: With his family’s indie video game business on the brink of bankruptcy, a teenage coding genius has just 30 days to create the world’s greatest video game. No pressure.

AJ Tesler’s upcoming film HERO MODE, which is releasing in select theaters on June 4. 

The film stars Mira Sorvino, Sean Astin, Indiana Massara (Chicken Girls) and newcomer Chris Carpenter. HERO MODE is about a teenage coding genius who has 30 days to create the world's greatest video game or his family loses everything.   

The film also stars Mary Lynn Rasjkub, Erik Griffin, Creed Brattton and influencers from the gaming world including MatPat, Wood Hawker, Scott the Woz, Sonja Reid, Ify Nwadiwe. Indiana Massara is also a singer with a huge social media following on Instagram and Tik Tok.  

AJ is from Hartford and is moving back to Connecticut! AJ’s directorial debut, Magnolia's Hope, a documentary about his family’s journey following their daughter Magnolia's diagnosis with Rett Syndrome, was released in December 2020.  (See trailer below) Magnolia’s story continues with AJ’s follow-up docuseries on YouTube. HERO MODE marks AJ’s narrative feature directing debut.  (See trailer below)
