Jon Stewart Takes The 9/11 Fight To The Senate Today

Jon Stewart is proving he’s not backing down from making sure that 9/11 heroes get the treatment they deserve.

The former “Daily Show” host is joining members of Congress, 9/11 first responders, survivors and their families for a news conference today immediately following the senate vote on a bipartisan 9-11 Victims Compensation Fund. Those expected to be on hand include Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, Congressmen Jerrold Nadler and David Alvarez, whose late father Luis was a former Marine and NYPD detective. He was also a 9-11 first responder advocate who contracted colon cancer after spending 3 months at ground zero after the terror attacks.

Officials with the Uniformed Firefighters Association, who are on Capitol Hill to put pressure on senators, say they are optimistic that the bill will go through and be on the President's desk by the end of the week.
