BEATLES: Announce New Film Drawn From Let It Be Sessions

On the 50th anniversary of their final concert that was the climax of the Let It Be film, The Beatles have announced a new film drawn from those sessions.

The film will be produced by Lord of the Rings mastermind Peter Jackson , who's been granted access to a wealth of unreleased material. Jackson said in a statement, "The 55 hours of never-before-seen footage and 140 hours of audio made available to us, ensures this movie will be the ultimate 'fly on the wall' experience that Beatles fans have long dreamt about -- it's like a time machine transports us back to 1969, and we get to sit in the studio watching these four friends make great music together."

There's no release date for the film, but when it is out a restored version of the original Let It Be film will be released as well. That 1970 movie has been out of print for a long time, reportedly because Paul McCartney , Ringo Starr , Yoko Ono and Olivia Harrison are not fond of how it shows the band squabbling in the studio.
