Save Pets’ Lives at CT Humane’s Diamonds in the Ruff

Delicious food, music, auctions, a patio for gazing up at the stars—it’s all part of a lifesaving evening at the Connecticut Humane Society’s Diamonds in the Ruff fundraiser for pets in need.

The special event is set for Saturday, Sept. 16, from 6-10 p.m. at The North House, 1 Nod Road, Avon. Animal lovers joining the fun should reserve their seats now by visiting CThumane.org. All proceeds from the evening will go toward the lifesaving veterinary treatment that pets receive at CHS.

Guests will even get to meet a couple of critters who will benefit from their generosity—puppies in the care of CHS will help kick off the festivities by greeting visitors at the door.

After meeting the furry VIPs, attendees can look forward to a multi-course meal, complimentary cocktails, live and silent auctions (concert tickets, Caribbean vacations, jewelry and more will be up for grabs), Fund the Pets bidding, a photo booth, animal-themed trivia and music.

Time spent enjoying the evening and bidding in the auctions will translate into more wagging tails and purrs. A girls’ night out at Diamonds in the Ruff means a pregnant dog can give birth to her puppies in a safe and comfortable environment. A date night at Diamonds means a stray kitten with an upper respiratory infection can find a safe haven and medical treatment. And family togetherness at The North House will turn a true “diamond in the rough” pet into a lifelong friend for a future adopter.

“Diamonds in the Ruff is a celebration of giving second chances to pets in need. We can’t wait to celebrate memorable success stories, as we pave the way for more animals to find healthy and happy futures,” CHS Executive Director Gordon G. Willard said. “This is one of our biggest fundraisers of the year, and we’re so grateful for the support of those who attend and sponsor the event, all in the name of saving more lives.”

With each pet at CHS receiving full-service medical treatment by a staff veterinary team, funds for medical care are more needed than ever before. Proceeds will support spay/neuter, vaccinations and microchips, and will help pets like Skippy, a senior Chihuahua who needs laser therapy to heal his knees, and Alex, a young tiger-striped kitty who needs continued treatment for an eye infection. Funds raised will also go toward monitoring pets’ medical conditions and completing complicated surgeries.

New for this year’s gathering is the Director’s Circle: Join by purchasing or selling seats for a table of 10. Two guests from the table will receive admission to a pre-event reception at 5:30 p.m. for a champagne toast with Willard and a private auction preview.

Diamonds in the Ruff’s title sponsor is Hill’s Pet Nutrition; the presenting sponsor is RKD Alpha Dog.
